A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME AND MY APPROACH TO CARE...

I've been a registered nurse since 2007 and a family nurse practitioner since 2013. My nursing background is in women's health and pediatrics, and I have always been interested in and drawn to human gestation and birth. I also have a strong interest in humanizing health care and in home visits as a lost and important mode of care for the entire family at key times in life.

I became a family nurse practitioner because I truly love caring for entire families during the complete span of life. I have spent many years of my career tending to the variety of problems that can arise from birth through advanced age, from diaper rash and ear infections to helping patients age in place as their chronic illnesses progress.

After the birth of my first baby in 2017, I became even more drawn to perinatal care, especially lactation support and the postpartum period -- a time when there is so much new to learn and navigate, and so much of the monitoring and care that happens during pregnancy seems to suddenly dissolve. Because I am clinically fascinated with what the human body can accomplish with the right support, and to help address the sparse patchwork of postpartum care that currently exists, I became a lactation consultant (first a CLC and then an IBCLC )and began making home visits for lactation care.

I make home visits because I believe that when you are healing from giving birth, sleep deprived, and learning how to care for your wonderful and sometimes frightening new tiny human, care should come to you, not the other way around.

I have also found over the years that when I meet you in your environment, and see how breastfeeding is going in your favorite chair, not sitting under fluorescent lights on my office furniture, we accomplish much more.

Outside of work, I love exercise (mostly running but I'm perpetually trying to make myself do other things too!), knitting (currently an advanced beginner), tackling the seemingly endless list of DIY projects needed at my house, and spending time with my family. I have two children, ages 3 and 8, who keep me entertained and busy. I am also a member of the Massachusetts Lactation Consultants Association (MLCA), and serve on the mentorship committee which supports aspiring IBCLCs in hopes of expanding lactation care and postpartum support in MA.
